HAZOP

 

     Hazard and operability (HAZOP) analysis is one of the best and most rigorous techniques for identification of hazard and operability problems in a chemical plant.  A HAZOP report includes all the deviations, their causes, analysis of the hazards in the plant and the resulting suggestion.

 

 

     In this case which is fast pyrolysis process, safety is very important especially when dealing with the chemicals and the equipment. The fluidized bed reactor for fast pyrolysis technology deals with temperate ranged around 500C.  The biggest hazard from these pieces of equipment is in the form of leaks that could cause hot fluid. The pumps also can overheat if it does not properly maintained. If this case occurs, the pump needs to be shut down so that it can cool back to the normal operating temperature.

 

 

     In a nutshell, HAZOP is actually one of the most important elements in any chemical plant. With the present of HAZOP, at least the rate of accident and injury can be reduce as the equipment to be deal in the plant is not some simple reactor like we usually deal inside the lab. Its either you make profit or a massive lost in the real world engineering field.
