My Reflection (Courses) - 1st Half
KRD
This subject is challenging and also slightly more complex than I have expected. Dr Suzana has given me wonderful help in understanding this subject.
CPDIC
Learning Maths is fun and exciting in this subject and it also requires a lot of pre-requisite knowledge from Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) we took during first year. As long as i studied up ODE, I believe CPDIC will be easier to comprehend.
PSLP
Safety is an important element in any engineering practices, especially in the industrial field. Therefore, I think this subject is very important for all engineers-to-be.
My Reflection (Board Game)
Board Game
This "project" has been innovative all together as it is approached in a totally different way, instead of mainstream reports and projects, we are asked to come out with a board game. This is a very challenging task and I believe we have learned a lot throughout the process.
KRD Based Questions in the Board Game
We all have understood different characteristics of different reactor and through the board game, we understand the concept of mole balance and heat balance much better. We have also understood the concept of stoichiometry, reaction order and rate law.
CPDIC Based Questions in the Board Game
After the production of this board game, we have grasp the concept of CPDIC more firmly and I believe the players will too.
PSLP Based Questions in the Board Game
In this game, we implemented the knowledge of safety control so that the players can have deeper understanding of this subject.
My Reflection (Courses) - 2nd Half
KRD
After learning the fundamental knowledge in KRD during the first half of the semester, now we have to apply our knowledge in multiple reactions, reaction mechanisms, non-isothermal reactor designs and others. Besides that, we are trained to think more by solving more higher order thinking question whether in class or after class.
CPDIC
The lessons for the second half semester is a bit easier since the basics of CPDIC we have already mastered a bit, we start to apply the fundamental into more complicated system such as feedback control system, dynamic behavior of closed loop system and others. But still, there is still a lot more we need to learn since we still have study harder to some concept in CPDIC to fully understand it.
PSLP
We learned about more hazard that will likely to be occur in industry area, such as fire explosion and loss of containment of materials. These accident will lead to casualty if it is not handle, after learning the sources of accident and prevention method, we can applied it when we are working in industrial area to avoid severe accident from happening.
My Reflection (Mini Project)
Team cooperation and communication is getting better and better after the first project, everyone is working on their part so that the project will be perfect when we finish it. This project is quite challenging, since we need to provide some engineering drawing diagram which we seldom practice, however, this is a good chance for us to brush up our engineering drawing skills and learn more on how to draw a PFD or PID diagram of a system that cover every aspect.
